My new love and my food allergy story

Dh and I have been watching Celebrity Apprentice and are really sad about the last one and the winner. Actually we are shocked and disappointed, our hero did not win. If you have never heard of Trace Adkins you need to listen, he has a wonderful deep voice but most important he has a heart. I am normally a Christian Rock fan but this guy is a wonderful singer. After watching this show for 3 months and listen to this guy talk about his family and the struggles his dd struggles with, she has severe food allergies, you can tell he has a great love for his family.

Only after watching him for this long did I get curious enough to listen to his music and wow, as a former honky tonker I sure wish I would have stumbles upon him earlier. He played for FAAN, The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, and as someone has suffers from food allergies this is a great organization. Many people do not understand allergies and just think you can take some benadryl and be fine.

Going out to eat can be a scary thing for people with food allergies, I will tell you the story of a couple of years ago when dh went out for our anniversary. We were working a conference with dh's work and our hotel treated us to a dinner at their 5 star restaurant, it was a huge conference and the publicity director found out it fell on our anniversary and the hotel treated us. So for once we have no kids and we are so jazzed and I mean we got the royal treatment, boy they treated us special but I could not get this waiter to understand I can not eat shellfish, nope not even a little bit. Everything he brought out my poor dh had to taste and every single on had shellfish in it. This was right after I found out I was allergic and had had a bad reaction, and so I was terrified. He bring us the main course and after telling this guy everytime, I thought I was safe with a chicken dish. Nope it was cooked in a shrimp butter, thanks the only thing I was able to eat that night was dessert.

The truly scary thing was how many times we told this guy and he just did not get it. My poor dh who loves me more than anything had to taste every single thing that was brought to me, and after about the fifth thing really start to feel bad for me. Honestly you could tell by the look on his face that it was delicious and he had to tell me no! It was really sad when we got back to our room, he actually ordered me a pizza because he knew how hungry I still was UGH it was such a let down. So to this day we are extremely careful when we do eat out, which we rarely do anymore. No one values your health as much as you do!

JustSayHi - Science Quiz

WHO KNEW??? I didn't know I could do that well!

Week 26 Week in review 7 weeks to go!

Well this has been a good week, we only did school 3 weeks because we are taking off for Good Friday. Co-op is having a break for the holiday also, which is great. WE are still in the midst of WWII, and we will actually have the war start next week. The last 3 weeks have been a bridge of getting to know the players (rulers of each country) and what their "angle" is in this conflict. Did I ever tell ya'll (yep I is a Texan LOL) that I hate studying this time period?

These are the books and video we used for this week. OHH by the way did you know that tweeners will find Pable Picasso art very funny? Well neither did I! Ohh by the way Picasso had an issue with female anatomy, enough said! But the video did show a lot of his art and that was the goal.

This is our control center, it has our announcements for the week, it has our not update date, and our vocabulary. We do vocabulary together for history because all they were doing was copying the definitions without a clue what they meant. So I put in simple terms and then they copy it and use it in a sentence. Try using lebensraum in a sentence, that was very difficult.

And last but not least is paper mache blimp picture, it is now total covered in paper mache and will need another coat of paper. I wonder if we will finish studying WWII before we are done with this project!

The research papers did not get edited this week, I am needing to go make copies of our CQLA and since our printer has been broken I have yet to find the time to do it. Math is coming along well and really we had a very lite school week with only three school days we just took it lite.

Wednesday, dh day off we had to deal with car issues I barely had time to make it to the libray. I hope to be able to make copies this weekend some time. I hope we will be able to buy a new printer by the end of April, we so did not need a car bill to pay it has put us in a bind to pay other bills that are due. One of dh's account that he gets paid spiffs has not paid him in 2 weeks and we are now owed over $300 and we are expecting a couple of checks in the mail. I pray they will pay him soon so our bills can get paid, we have no saving built up to take the blow for our car bills. Ugh but dh's "season" is just starting so we hope to be caught up soon and can start to pay off our debt soon. We also hope to build a car fund to be able to pay these bills soon and will be less of a bomb in the old account.

That was our week, the good the bad and the ugly!
