Nature in the 'hood!

So we have a lot of nature experiences this week :)

We first had this fall into our yard, at first when we looked out the window and saw it (it was pouring down rain at the time) we thought it was a plastic puffer fish. so of course we had to slice it and see what was inside! Can you say your homeschooling is showing!

Then this afternoon I see our chix/terrior was sure interested in something. And seemed about 2 seconds for attacking. Luckly I stopped him because there seems to be a family of these, living under the deck!

We live in a major city and have seen more nature in the last week, than in the year we lived out close to the lake. The kids are loving this and so am I!

Too neat! What is that ball thing that fell from the sky. It looks like a seed pod of some kind.

We say opossum this week too!

Yes we think it came from a sycamore tree but all of ours are too small (the pods) so it had to come from someone else's yard. We are going on a walk to find out where if we can.

That is neat. :o)

You know, when I was researching opossum, I learned there are quite a few people out there that keep them as pets. I couldn't imagine that... But they sure are adorable when they are tiny. :o)

You're loving the possum? My dog is dating one. They both seem to be happy with meeting in the compost pile to dine together.
