Week in Review week 10

We just did basics this week with the death of Cocoa we just figured to keep it simple this week. My youngest finished his Gamma level in math yeah! My dd will finish epsilon next week :) It was really kind of a quiet week, my oldest son had lots of science homework to do this week. We are on week 3 of co-op and I love the classes the kids are in this semester. My dh is still looking for work and we are still waiting to hear from a company, boy are they taking their time :( I especially like our history poster it was in the teachers notes and I thought it would be a good thing so the kids can get a feel for what it was like in the early 1900's.

This was after she was groomed about 3 months ago

WE had a death this week, very unexpectedly and we will truly miss our little Cocoa, even though she was only with us for 5 months she was a part of our family. We have no idea what happened to her, she was 9years old and had been checked out less than 3 months ago. She was only sick less than 24 hours and slipped away in her sleep.

Week 9 in Review

Well we have started the 20th century. WE reviewed Henry Ford, and talked about Hellen Keller, the Wright Brothers and what our family would be like if we had lived in the year 1900. This was our first week of juggling co-op homework and schooling, last week we had off so I was unsure how the oldest two would do but they did great! We are modifying our literature assignments with TOG and I am not making them read a whole novel a week plus all of the history reading- it was just too much for them and me. But we are still trucking along.

This next week we are going to be covering Teddy Roosevelt, the Hawaiian Island (they also have a project on hawaii that they will be working on due in two weeks) and the building of the Panama Canal.

Blogger Friends Assignment #2

A.Well if I could create a wonderful place to blog in my house it would be a miracle in I would not be stuck at a desk but since we still have a regular desktop I am stuck here in the study at an uncomfortable desk. One day I would love to have a wonderful comfortable couch to sit with a laptop so I can snuggle next to my hunny and have a dog or two close :)

B. I am not really able to redo my area it is my dh's office because my old computer got fried in a storm so he would come unglued if I messed with his desk UGH. Plus this is a rental house so we are very limited in what we can do.

C. A verse on my heart this week is Psalm 42 and 43. My dh's is currently looking for work and has been for almost 6 months and these 2 chapters really describe how I am feeling. My dh has gone on a 3rd interview with a company and will hopefully hear from them this week. If you get a chance and feel comfortable please pray they show favor to dh.

WE will never forgot and I pray for the victims family, I pray for the rescuers who are suffering from trying to save others.

Well our break is over and it is back to work

We had a nice week break, except for it went by too soon. Our next break is in November, I don't know if I can wait that long. OHHH well I will put on my big girl panties and deal. Co-op went great, the kids like their classes and love our co-op.

This week we are starting to study the 1900's this week we will talk about the Wright's, Albert Einstein and Hellen Keller. We will also start with the older two working on a timeline, a first for our homeschooling. We also will be switching and my oldest will be working more on SAT vocabulary instead of the vocabulary from our history studies.

Well when woke up this morning it was thundering , it was still fairly dark inside the house. It is still just raining away and forecasters say it will not stop until tomorrow. The great thing about this means it will be a fairly quiet day with no construction on the now three houses across the street. I never realized how distracting it is to hear all this construction, trucks backing up and mysterous banging that goes on almost no stop from 6am to 8:30pm. When we first moved in you could see a vacant field to front of us but it is long since gone. Just noise and the wonderful port-a-potty that sits right in front of the house across the street, now that is a $1 million dollar view.

Blogger Friend Assignment #1 "MEME Style"

Blogging well I dove into the world of blogging because I had a lot of URL friends who were doing it and I had to succumb to the peer preasure LOL. No I really did start because it is fun to see what other homeschoolers are doing and I thought it would be a great way for family to follow our going ons. We started on homeschoolblogger but when I figured out how to post pictures we quickly ran out of memory space so I switched to blogger instead.

MY dream place to blog from a secluded beach on the island of Oahu or Maui, we feel in love with the beach in Hawaii and hope one day to return and show our kids.

I usually blog in the mornings and actually normally do of weekly reporting on Saturday mornings. I always post about what is coming up in our week on Sunday morning(we go to church on Saturday evenings).

My favorite drink is a good ole Sweet Tea thank you very much :) My favorite books is so hard I loved to Kill a Mockingbird, Ten Little Indians and Memorias of a Geisha.

My favorite dessert is anything sweet and coconut free how about that.
My favorite Bible Verse of lately is Joshua 24:15:

15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD

Tomorrow is the Big Day

Well tomorrow is the big day---CO-OP starts. My kids are so excited they can't stand it. We have to be up there at 8:30 of my I am not a good morning person but by the time I get up and dressed and drive the 35 minutes to get there I am awake. My dd has made sure everyone has their clothes picked out LOLOL she thought it was going to be cold, yeah right we live in TX, so she decided oldest son needed to wear long sleeve shirt with shorts. Tomorrow's weather high of 92 LOLOL.

So we will be making breakfast tonight so all we have to do tomorrow is reheat it, we premake our lunch (chicken fajita pitas) and plan what is for dinner(Hamburger helper taco-I am not a big Ham. Helper fan but can handle it for one night). Next week we will do something in the crockpot-I am just scared to do it since last time it cracked the countertop in the kitchen (yep you read right).

This has been a great week off, we have enjoyed it so much after 8 weeks of school all ready. I really needed it to prepare for co-op and for the next unit. I am so glad we have a fourth of the school year all ready done. Yep you read correctly we are a fourth of the way done!!!

Week 8 in Review

Well this is our last week before our break week and then next Friday we start co-op! Yeah we are excited, except for me I have to get ready for the 3 classes I am teaching

This is oldest dd dictation and spelling test for the week, I choose it because she did so great on her dictation. Dictation has been very hard for my kids in the past, but she did great this week.

This is my sons daily math review pages, we do these everyday before we start our Math U See lesson. It has really helped keep things fresh for them, even though MUS has some built in review my kids need a little more. It is a free resource and you can find the link on my sidebar.
This is my youngest outline for our CQLA for his first orginal essay, they all have them but this is the first one for him. He did research and then did the outline by himself.
This is my youngest spelling and dictation. IT was his first time taking dictation and he did really well. I thought this week was a great language arts week for my youngest!
This is our command center board. If you look the right hand corner has words I know my kids needed for dication but did not expect them to be able to spell. We have the defintion of Judging for our Bible lessons. And a list of things the could draw for their covers of their history notebook.

We had a great week and I am so glad after 8 weeks that we have a week off! I need it!
