Co-op Starts in 7 days

Thank goodness we have this next week off, after schooling for 8 weeks it is time for a break. So next week we are off, mainly so I can get it together for co-op and get a break. So we signed up a week ago and here are our classes

DD:
Rainbow Science
I Will Survive(cooking class for middle/high school)
Dramatic Flair(she is a drama mama)
You think you want to dance?
Mythbusters

Oldest DS:
General Science
Building Bridges
Archery (he has been dying to take this one for a year)
Rollar hockey( his most favorite class)
Cartooning

Youngest DS:
Real Science 4 kids- physics
Fun and Games (cup stacking class)
Just Desserts(cooking class he is going to grow up to be a chief)
CSI
Studio 4 Him (improv class)

I am teaching:
Traveling the American Road(US geography class)
Extreme Weather
Knights Quest(literature class)

This is our second year with our co-op and we love it, we belonged to another one before this one that was good. We had to move co-ops because the other one was really small so there was only one choice for each age group. Well one semester my oldest son, who is dysgraphic(writing LD), had to take a speech class and an artist/art class (with papers). It never failed the speech and papers(there was 4 of them) were always due on the same day. Finally on the last week I told him to choose one, he was going crazy.

So this co-op we go to now is great there is normally at least 5-6 classes to choose from during each class period. There are lots of families (we have 105 families in our co-op) and it has been going for a long time. This year we even got a yearbook it was great better than my high school yearbook. It was about 150 pages and pictures galore. It was worth the $20 and it is one more thing the kids don't miss out on, we also have homecoming and prom. It is great we are very blessed to have it.

Week in Review- Week Seven

This is our second to last week in our first term. We started in July and our history is divided into four units we call them terms. So next week is our last week in the term and then we will have a week break and then we start co-op.

This is my oldest son poster he was suppose to be doing for history, we have been studying Pasteur and his assignment was to make a "poster" to remind people to wash their hands. Is he a cartoonist in training or what?

This is Adam's math page from Math U See he is just a couple of lessons from finishing his book YEAH, he should be done with it within a month.

THis is my dd math page, she is almost finished with Epsilon (thank goodness, the dreaded fraction book) I think we have two more lessons. Fractions have been extremely difficult for here. She is doing great with these equations though!

This is our command center. We right things we are studying-this week we were reading Matthew and so we listed the four disciples that Jesus choose. We also read a very interesting article on Pharisees and discussed that, and how we all sometimes act very Pharisee from time to time. IT has our Memory verse, we are using a curriculum that is really great for all ages of my kids. The best part is it is free, you can find it here http://www.annesschoolplace.com/productsBible.htm
Our board also has the date, any Language Arts notes (CQLA is our english) on what draft/outline/final copy is due. It will also say who we are studying as an artist and composer.

Well week 7 of the school year is done

we only have one more week until our first term is over. Yeah! We studied some scientist the week and next week will talk about the Spanish-American War. Then we have a week off, for Labor Day and because we always take a week off between terms. We go to register for co-op classes on Saturday. I will post our week in review tomorrow.

Love this Homeschooling comic

Some of our Notebook Pages

This was from week last week's history, we have just starting to get serious with the notebooking, my dd is loving it.

This one is my oldest son's book on the Eiffel Tower, and who built it.

This one is my dd, one book is on each of the political parties at the time- Progressives, Populists and Muckrackers.

This is a notebook page that has our weekly timeline and one of the things they were suppose to do is copy a dollar to see how hard it would be to counterfiet. And then on the right explain what counterf

Our Yr. 3 Projects

Since we are finishing year 3 History (which is the 1800's) I thought I would post some of our projects we have done and have pictures for

My son's civil war project, he made the sub that was made during the civil war this was in May of this last year.

We were to copy Immpressionists Painting. All kids did one, they got to choose which one they copied.

Don't you love this expression?

Our Statue of Liberty project we made these at water bottle, wire, masking tape, pipe cleaners and Model magic. IT was fun.

So I finally figured out how to post picture so I decided to unveil our schoolroom for 2007-2008.

This is in the corner by the window, it is our whiteboard(complete with reminders for the kids and things we have discussed. The magazine racks on the cubbies hold my teachers key one for each kid. The black drawers have papers and craft stuff for our hands on activities. And our table where we do our work

This bookcase houses our Tapestry of Grace binders on the top shelf, our Sister Wendy's painting book, our markers, map pencils and watercolors(we use those almost weekly) The basket contains our CQLA binders and our Bibles. The box with the eagle was done by dh for a co-op project.

This is our bookcase that hold our extra history books and reference section. We use our encyclopedia's a lot. The basket up top holds our history books we will use in the next year, we try not to buy a bunch because we don't have a whole bunch of storage and they tend to get lost in moves. Each years book are put in a big rubbermaid bin for the next go around. This is on the same wall as the black drawer, there is a bookcase in between.

This is the table where some work gets done, most of the work gets done on the futon or the floor. Her is my son pretending to be busy, if you look it is really 5:20 and school has been over for 3 hours but he looks good.

This is the wall of posters. If you look we have a handwriting and fractions how to chart. The shelves with the plastic tubs houses all the kids workbooks, each kid has a tub to put their books in. The big crate on top has all our of our library books in it. The brown paper has our big world map on it. The big thing on the wall is our calendar and if you look the picture is a picture of Grandpa Sparks.

This is the much loved futon and there is one more chrome bookshelf by the stairs that has our geography and science reference books. How many dogs are in this picture?
